World Class Escort is a magazine about nightlife, luxury travel and adult culture in the world’s larger cities. It is independently written, independently funded, and it carries no advertising.

What the site covers

Five sections, and deliberately not more.

The City Index scores and compares cities on what they are actually like after midnight. Rankings turn those scores into tables, which is the version most people want to argue with. The Guides handle etiquette, privacy, money, safety and the law. The Encyclopedia keeps the vocabulary, the places and the media history. And Profiles is fiction: a cast of invented characters, with generated images, who exist nowhere else.

Why this domain

Addresses in this line of work tend to have a past, and this one has more than most. It goes back to 1999, when it belonged to an escort site with a gallery, a rates page and a touring schedule. It was sold, and sold again, sat parked for several years, and spent a brief period as a directory.

We bought it because the subject interests us and the name fits what we wanted to publish. Old addresses that still have a sensible equivalent redirect to the new page. The rest return gone rather than being pointed at something unrelated, which is the honest answer and also the correct one.

We have no connection to any previous owner of the domain, and we hold none of the material any of them published.

How it is funded

Out of our own pocket. There is no advertising, no affiliate revenue, no sponsored content, no paid placement, and no listings for anyone. It is a smaller budget and a much simpler position to defend. The reasoning, and what we would do if that ever changed, is in the editorial standards.

Method

Guides and encyclopedia entries are written from named sources and cite them. City scores are editorial judgements against a published rubric: dated, revisable, and worth exactly as much as the reasoning underneath them. Fiction is labelled as fiction on every page that carries it, and every generated image is labelled as generated.

We use language models for drafting and translation, under editorial direction. Nothing goes up unread.

Corrections and contact

An error, a source we have missed, a subject we should have covered: the contact page has the address, and material errors are corrected on the page where they appeared rather than quietly. Anything that needs acting on rather than answering goes through complaints and removals.
